General
Do I need to keep the game open?
No. With offline progress on (Options → Game), your heroes get up to 24 h of hunting for the time away when you open the game. Quests and the Water Zone only run with the game open.
Which class should I pick first?
The Knight is the easiest: he takes a beating and his cleave clears hordes. The Sorceress has the strongest area damage and the heals; the Huntress kills from range; the Beastmaster fights with summons. You can have up to four characters, so you can try them all.
Is there multiplayer?
There's no online mode. Your party is made of your own heroes (up to four), and duels pit heroes from your save against each other, on your PC.
Will the game slow my PC down?
It's built to stay out of the way: it runs at 15 frames per second, uses about 185 MB of RAM in the background and hides when something goes full screen. Options → Performance saves even more.
Where can I see drop odds?
In the Codex (F3). It shows where every item drops, with the effective odds for your class, and reads the same tables the game uses.
Progress
How do I level faster?
Hunt in XP regions of your level, use Leveling mode with auto-enter quests, open your Experience Boxes, use the Experience Chest, ride a mount and play in a party. From level 150 on, the Water Zone pays high fixed XP per room.
Why is my hero barely earning XP?
They're probably above the region's level. Up to 10 levels above the strongest monster XP is full; after that it drops each level and reaches zero at 30 or more. Move to a region of your level from the Map (F2).
My hero keeps dying to the boss. What now?
Refine your armor, complete your tier's set, put points into CON and build your hotbar with defensive and healing skills. Region bosses' poison is resisted by Immunity and cleaned by Purify. In a party, the boss goes down much faster.
Can I switch paths later?
Yes. Skills 1 to 7 of any path can be learned together. To change your ultimate, use Reset Skills: the first one is free; after that it costs 1,000 gold per character level.
What happens at level 400?
At level 400 the character evolves into an Arch (coming soon) and XP stops. The map's sealed lands — Valdrima, the Dawnless Vale and Ysmarra — open with the Arch.
Can an update make me lose levels?
No. If the XP curve changes in an update, every character keeps all the XP already earned; no level is lost.
Items and Forge
Can refining break my item?
Never. A failure costs that attempt's stone and gold and brings the guarantee closer. The odds show on screen before you click.
Why do some items turn into dust?
An item identical to one the hero already has in the bag or equipped turns into Orichalcum Dust when it drops — and so does any drop with a full bag. That keeps your bag from filling with duplicates.
How do I get two identical items for +10?
Store the first one in the Account Chest: the Chest doesn't count for duplicates, so the next copy goes to your bag. With both at +9, plus 4 matching gems, a Sage's Stone and Lactorium, try +10 at the Forge.
Which gem should I use for +10?
It depends on your goal: Sapphire grants more drops, Emerald grants Penetration, Coral grants more XP and Garnet grants Absorption. The effect grows with the item's tier.
Can I pass items between characters?
Yes, through the Account Chest (F6): it's shared by every character. Each character has their own bag.
