Basics

Classes

Four classes, each with three paths. The path defines the hero's weapon, fighting style and advanced skills — and you can have up to four characters, of any class.

Overview

The class is picked when you create the character and never changes. All three of the class's paths are open from the start: the weapon you wield and the ultimate you learn are what specialize the hero. The weapon grants points in its own path and changes the hero's look.

Knight

Knight artwork in combat

The Knight holds the front line. His basic attack cleaves into the second monster, so he clears hordes from the start. An easy first character and a solid anchor for a party.

  • Blade — Pure physical damage with the Greatsword: armor break, bleed and executes.
  • Oath — Spear and auras: protects and empowers the whole party.
  • Bulwark — Sword and shield: block, taunt and counterattack. Or two swords, trading the shield for speed.

Two swords

The Bulwark Sword also fits the off-hand, in place of the shield. With two swords the Knight trades blocking for speed and repeated strikes:

  • The off-hand sword gives 40% of its own (refined) damage, its affixes and its +10 gem — no sword block and no path points.
  • +10% attack speed.
  • Every basic attack and every single-target strike lands again with the off-hand for 40% of its damage (its own crit roll, no cleave). In duels, that strike is capped at 20%.
  • The hero charges on sight, without waiting for the first contact.
  • No shield, no block: the block passive does nothing, and the shield skills are struck with the swords, same effect.
  • Auto distribution with two swords: STR 3 · DEX 1 · CON 1 — Dexterity for speed and crits.
  • You can hold up to 2 copies of the same sword; the second one doesn't turn into dust.

To equip, use Equip in Off-hand (right-click the sword) or drop the sword on the shield slot. A two-handed weapon in the main hand sends the second sword back to the bag.

Huntress

Huntress artwork in combat

The Huntress kills before she is reached: she attacks from range, crits often and dodges. From the second city on, monsters gain Accuracy, which lowers her dodge: don't rely on dodge alone.

  • Traps — Crossbow: Marked, Poison, Slowed and traps that control the horde.
  • Wild — Saber: fast melee, dodge and strike chains.

Sorceress

The Sorceress has the strongest area damage and the best heals. Magic ignores half of a monster's defense. In a party, White Magic heals, blesses and revives allies with Resurrection.

  • Arcane — Spellblade: a sword in one hand and a scepter in the other. Melee with magic damage, a mana shield and freezes.

Beastmaster

Recommended attributes

Each level grants 5 attribute points. With Auto-distribute points on (the default), they follow the class distribution in the ratio below. Each path also scales with one attribute: more points in it strengthen its skills.

Attributes by class and path
ClassAuto distributionPath → attribute
KnightSTR 3 · CON 2Blade → STR · Oath → CON · Bulwark → CON
HuntressSTR 2 · DEX 3Hunt → DEX · Traps → DEX · Wild → DEX
SorceressINT 3 · CON 2Black Magic → INT · White Magic → INT · Arcane → INT
BeastmasterSTR 2 · DEX 1 · CON 2Beast → STR · Summoning → INT · Nature → INT
  • Knight: Oath and Bulwark scale with CON — lean into CON on those paths; Blade lives on STR.
  • Huntress: all three paths scale with DEX, which also grants attack speed, crit and dodge.
  • Sorceress: everything scales with INT, which also grants mana and lowers skill cooldowns. CON keeps her alive.
  • Beastmaster: Beast scales with STR; Summoning and Nature with INT.

Turn auto distribution off to spend points by hand (Basic tab of the Character window). Reset Attributes: 1 free use, then 100 gold per character level. What each attribute does is in Attributes and Stats.
